Hi, I’m Taimour Zaman.

I’m a self-proclaimed “capital strategist with a flair for the dramatic,” I’ve spent my career turning the mundane world of finance into a high-stakes adventure—minus the explosions (well, mostly).

As a kid, I was obsessed with spies and superheroes. I dreamed of saving the world. Instead, I saved balance sheets, boosted bank liquidity, and funded the future of AI and blockchain. Not quite the caped crusader I imagined, but close enough. After cutting my teeth in the big-tech arena and consulting for household names like Adobe, Microsoft, SAP, and IBM, I realized something: Canada’s innovation rankings were tanking faster than a lead balloon.

Not one to sit idly by, I co-founded One Million Acts of Innovation in 2012, a global non-profit to reignite Canada’s creative spark by connecting arts, youth, and business. The goal? To count one million acts of innovation. Think of it as a creative Olympics with fewer spandex and more world-changing ideas. Not content with just counting innovations, I took things to the next level by co-founding 8 Billion Acts of Innovation, an investment firm that funded AI and blockchain companies on a TV show with a $20 million prize pool. Yes, I turned innovation into a game show. Cue the dramatic music and confetti cannons.

Today, I’m the Principal of AltFunds Global, where I provide capital to industries, monetize funding instruments, and help high-net-worth individuals make wise investment decisions. With a network of over 900 brokers, 2,500 institutional investors, and banks worldwide, I’m the guy you call when you need to turn financial chaos into clarity—or when you want to know how to make standby letters of credit sexy (spoiler: it’s possible). My wife and fiercely independent young daughter keep me grounded—or at least as grounded as a guy who spends his days structuring multi-million-dollar deals can be. I surround myself with out-of-the-box financiers and attorneys who are as creative and fearless as James Bond and Batman. Integrity and respect are non-negotiable, but so is a good sense of humor. After all, if you can’t laugh while structuring a multi-million-dollar deal, what’s the point? I firmly believe in due diligence, data-driven decisions, and not taking myself too seriously.

Finance doesn’t have to be boring. It can be exhilarating, especially when saving the world, one balance sheet at a time.
